Run a tight bar? A rooftop venue in Christchurch, New Zealand wants a Duty Manager who can lead a busy floor and keep standards high.
It is one of the top spots in the city centre and is in its sixth year. Doors open Tuesday to Sunday. Full table service, sharing plates, seasonal food. Mondays go to functions, cocktail competitions, staff training and presentation.
The job is permanent and full-time. You get a contract of 30 hours minimum, rotating closing shifts, and evening and weekend work. Friday and Saturday evenings are fixed, and that is not up for discussion. Pay is $28 to $32 per hour. Sponsorship is available for the right candidate. You can start immediately, and the business trains and develops people who commit to the trade.

Key Responsibilities
- Meet and greet guests at the door
- Run reservations and deal with customer enquiries
- Handle orders, upselling and payments, and keep customers satisfied
- Lead the crew from the front
- Look after functions as the main contact
- Keep front-of-house costs, overheads and the roster on KPI and target
- Train the front-of-house team
- Keep morale and staff culture positive
- Order stock and do the monthly stocktake
- Open and close by standard procedure
- Keep the workplace safe, healthy and legal
- Have a say in new menu development, from drinks and recipes to costings and marketing
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least three years on the bar
- High-volume cocktail experience
- Valid LCQ and a current Duty Managers Certificate
- Warm, welcoming and positive
- Drive to succeed, ambition to grow and develop, and real passion for the industry
- Can commit to evenings and weekends (Friday and Saturday evenings non negotiable)
