Cookie Policy

Short answer: MzansiAbroad sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics, ads or trackers. The rest of this page lists, item by item, what your browser does keep for the site and which outside services can load while you are here.
1. Cookies and browser storage, explained
Bottom line: we cover cookies and every similar way a site can store things in your browser.
- Cookie: a small piece of text a website saves on your device and gets back with later requests.
- sessionStorage: storage tied to a single tab, cleared as soon as you close it.
- localStorage and IndexedDB: storage that stays put until it is deleted.
2. What your browser keeps for us
Bottom line: one small item for visitors, a couple more for staff, zero cookies.
On the public site
- chunk_reload_at (sessionStorage): a timestamp that lets the page refresh itself once if we released an update while you had it open. Nothing personal in it, and it goes when you close the tab.
On the admin page (staff only)
- Firebase Authentication (Google) keeps a staff member's login session in IndexedDB or localStorage.
- The email address a staff member logs in with is kept in localStorage.
If you never open the admin page, none of the staff items are created on your device.
3. Other services and websites
Bottom line: a few things load from Google; everything else waits for you to tap.
- Google Fonts. Our fonts download from Google, which sees your IP address and browser details.
- Video previews. When we have YouTube Shorts on show, their thumbnail images come from i.ytimg.com. If there are no videos, the section stays hidden and nothing loads.
- The video player. It loads from youtube-nocookie.com only after you tap a video. From then on, YouTube may store data under Google's policies.
- WhatsApp and share buttons. Our WhatsApp chat and channel links, and any share buttons, do nothing until you tap them.
- Other websites we link to. Government websites and the other websites we link to (Build AI CV, Talent Tabloid and Skills Assessment Australia) set their own cookies under their own policies.
4. Why each item is there
Bottom line: everything stored does a job for you or for site security.
- chunk_reload_at stops you landing on a broken page just after we push an update, by allowing one automatic refresh.
- The staff login items keep our team signed in to the private admin section.
None of it is used to recognise you, build a profile of you or follow you around the internet.
6. Taking control
Bottom line: your browser settings decide.
- You can clear or block site data in your browser's privacy settings. Nothing on the public site is lost when you do.
- A private or incognito window throws its storage away when you close it.
- If you block Google Fonts, the site simply uses a font from your device.
- To stop YouTube storing anything, don't tap play. Thumbnails alone don't load the player.
- The public site works fully with browser storage blocked. Only the staff login needs it.
7. Changes
Bottom line: anything new gets listed here first.
If we ever add a cookie or another storage item, it will appear on this page with a new date. For how we handle personal information more generally, see the Privacy Policy.
