This is a care job with real responsibility, Mzansi. A disability support service in Tauranga, New Zealand wants a Support Worker / Life Facilitator for a full-time contract in a 24/7 team. The client lives with tetraplegia, is highly motivated and keeps a busy, active life with full-time commitments.
You handle personal cares, daily activities and companionship, and you drive and accompany the client to work and family commitments, travel included. Day shifts are 7 am to 5 pm. Night shifts are 5 pm to 7 am with a sleepover. Plan on around 35 hours or more a week over about 2 to 4 shifts, plus 2 weekend shifts a month. The client and team train you properly.
The employer is accredited and has job tokens available to support work visas, so AEWV sponsorship is part of the deal.

Key Responsibilities
- Handle personal cares, daily activities and companionship for the client
- Drive and accompany the client so work and family commitments get done
- Pull your weight in a 24/7 support team on AM and PM shifts, helping coordinate the roster
- Stick to the care plan and job description and keep the environment comfortable and engaging
Requirements & Eligibility
- On the way to an NZQA health and wellbeing qualification at Level 3 or higher
- Good understanding of how a 24/7 roster is run and coordinated
- Hands-on training experience linked to working from a care plan and job description
- Professional, honest, trustworthy, reliable and positive, with initiative and common sense
- Communicates well and adapts when needs change
- Driver licence in hand and a high level of English
- Strong availability, afternoons, evenings and sleepovers too, plus 2 weekend shifts every month
