This is a full-time Field Service Engineer Technician job in Auckland for someone who can install, fix and support production line equipment without hand-holding. The employer is a growing technology company working with manufacturing, food and beverage, packaging and automation businesses.
The kit is mostly coding, marking, laser and labelling technology, built as electro-mechanical systems with a serious software side. You will do sole-charge installs, software integration, repairs, customer training and help desk support. Travel is regular, across New Zealand and out to Pacific Island territories such as Fiji, Samoa and Tahiti.
The company is an Accredited Employer with Immigration New Zealand, so it can sponsor workers on the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV). This vacancy is for applicants already based in New Zealand who hold immigration credentials to live and work there.
Your CV must show the work, not just job titles: installs done alone, software integrated, faults found and fixed, and your on-call history. Put together a no-nonsense field service CV on Build AI CV and keep it current.
Key Responsibilities
- Run installs alone: advanced coding and vision gear, electronic and mechanical, fitted to production lines and tied into its control software, plus the coding and labelling software packages
- Read schematics and manuals, run diagnostics and apply electrical know-how until each install is finished
- Teach safe, correct operation to customers as well as the company's own sales and service people
- Back customers and fellow field techs on the help desk, before a sale and after it
- Sort out mechanical and electrical breakdowns: trace faults, swap parts and modules, redo wiring, load new firmware and software
- Test equipment at the factory before it ships and on the customer's line, return for planned servicing so lines lose less output and time, and log stock and workflow paperwork properly and promptly

- University qualification in a relevant area
- At least 5 years putting in and backing up industrial coding and labelling technology, control software included
- A proven track record finding faults where coding software meets coding and marking hardware
