Mzansi hard rock engineers, this one is worth your time. A big underground zinc-lead-silver mine in Queensland wants a permanent Mining Engineer for medium term planning.
The mine has years of life left and a tricky sequence. Several fronts run together, and development, stopes, vent, backfill, services and infrastructure all need to fall in the right order. You build the plans and schedules, keep them current and keep making them better so production and development targets are met. No shortcuts.
You pick the setup. Work out of Brisbane, go FIFO to the mine or live on site. Visa sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities
- Build mine plans and schedules that back production and development targets.
- Keep those plans and schedules current and keep improving them.
- Break Life-of-Mine and long-term planning strategies down into practical medium-term sequences.
- Get the timing right on stope extraction, development, ventilation availability and infrastructure readiness.
- Hand over medium-term sequences that can be turned into short term plans.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Tertiary qualifications, in Mining Engineering or a related subject.
- Demonstrated hard rock underground mining time, preferably with exposure to scheduling, mine planning or technical services roles.
- Experience running Deswik, Surpac or equivalent planning and design software for stope sequencing, development planning and schedule analysis.
- Strong understanding of how underground mining methods, production sequencing and development requirements fit together, and the ability to work ventilation, operational, geological and geotechnical constraints into practical mine plans.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to size up planning risks, spot constraints and come up with practical solutions.
