Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed assessments of patients' mental health
- Plan and give nursing care tailored to each person
- Help patients with conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, among others
- Complete patient risk assessments and examine patients' mental state
- Track patients' condition through monitoring and manage medication administration
- Review treatment responses
- Support patients through crisis intervention and help patients plan their recovery
- Practise therapeutic engagement and operate within a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, allied health staff and nurses
- Keep clinical records accurate
- Work on discharge planning
Requirements & Eligibility
- Qualification as a Registered Nurse and experience in inpatient mental health or psychiatric nursing
- Registered with AHPRA or eligible to obtain Australian nursing registration
- Strong clinical assessment skills, together with risk management
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in acute mental health, adult psychiatry or specialist inpatient services
- Committed to recovery-focused, person-centred and trauma-informed care
- Employer sponsorship sought through the Subclass 482 visa
