Behavioural Support Worker

Straight to it: Whanganui, New Zealand needs a Behavioural Support Worker. This is hands-on care work with people who have complex behavioural and medical needs. You keep them safe, help them through tough emotional and health moments, and back them to do more for themselves.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help people with complex behavioural and medical needs work through overwhelming emotions and health challenges, and manage risk when things get tough.
  • Keep people safe, encourage positive behaviour and teach skills that grow independence in daily living.
  • Pitch in with whatever each person needs based on their ability: transport, employment, finances, meal preparation, shopping, cleaning, showering and medication administration.
  • Work rotating shifts covering days, evenings, overnights and weekends.

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Preferred: you have experience managing challenging behaviours.
  • You can navigate behaviours that can challenge and are physically fit to give necessary physical support.
  • You are available for flexible shifts, weekends and wakeover shifts included.
  • You use computers and tablets daily, comfortably and proficiently.
  • Your written and verbal communication skills are strong.
  • You hold a Full NZ driver's license.
