Got serious hours on big diggers? An Auckland scrap yard wants a Heavy Excavator Operator to join its permanent crew, full-time.
The kit is a 30-tonne tracked machine running a shear, a grapple and a magnet. You will chop heavy steel, sort it, pile it and load export containers. The yard is busy. It runs safe and it runs tight.
Work is at least 30 hours a week, up to 50 in a normal week. Potential AEWV sponsorship support is on the table for highly qualified international applicants who are onshore or ready to move, so it is worth a look from Mzansi.

Key Responsibilities
- Chop car bodies, machines and structural steel with the shear
- Sort metal with the grapple and keep the baler and shredder going
- Stockpile ferrous scrap with the magnet; keep the lanes clean
- Pre-start checks daily, plus hydraulic line care on every attachment swap
- Load export containers
Requirements & Eligibility
- 30-tonne-plus excavator hours
- Those hours done in a scrap metal yard, heavy demolition or quarry environment
- Direct, confident running of a hydraulic shear, grapple and magnet (essential)
- Valid NZ Class 1 licence with WTR endorsement (highly preferred)
- Sharp spatial awareness around working trucks, machines and ground staff
- Can pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
