Run a tight floor and know the liquor rules? A licensed waterfront restaurant and café near Nelson, New Zealand needs a permanent Duty Manager. Up to 200 seats. Open seven days. Busy summers, quieter winters.
This is a hands-on leadership job. You brief the crew, lead from the front during service and coach people as you go. You keep everyone on the checklists and systems that make the place run. You are the licensed manager on duty, so host responsibility under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 is yours. You do the cash-up and handover properly. Big guest problems go to the Restaurant Manager. Minimum 30 hours a week, weekends and public holidays included.
The employer is accredited and may be able to sponsor a work visa for the right person. You need New Zealand work rights already to apply.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead from the front on the floor during your shifts and set the standard
- Be the licensed Duty Manager: host responsibility and the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012
- Brief the crew at shift start, then coach and back them during service
- Keep everyone on the venue systems, checklists and procedures, and get cash-up, opening, closing and handovers right
- Handle guest feedback calmly and pass the big stuff to the Restaurant Manager
Requirements & Eligibility
- Duty Manager Certificate (Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012) or able to obtain one promptly
- National Certificate in Food & Beverage Service (Level 3) or equivalent, or working towards it
- Previous experience supervising or leading shifts in hospitality
- Good working knowledge of wine, beverage and food service, and confident reading rosters and sticking to the wage cost expectations for a shift
- Proficiency with venue systems such as IdealPOS, NowBookIt, Operandio, Slack and Loaded
- Right to work in New Zealand
