A dementia care home in Christchurch has a permanent, full-time Caregiver job going, and overseas applicants with the right papers can be considered for a visa. The home is an Immigration New Zealand Accredited Employer and can sponsor the AEWV, as long as you have a Registered Nursing degree, or a caregiving qualification at Level 3 or above plus an International Qualification Assessment (IQA).
The job is real hands-on care. You help residents with dementia wash, dress, eat, move and communicate, follow their therapy plans, write up their progress and let the nurses know the moment something changes.
Expect 30 hours a week as a minimum and shifts at any hour. Level 1 earns $23.95 an hour, Level 2 $24.06, Level 3 $26.16 and Level 4 or above $28.25.

Key Responsibilities
- Wash, dress and feed residents with dementia, with care that is holistic and culturally safe
- Help residents get around and make themselves understood
- Have your say in care planning and stick to each therapy plan
- Keep watch on residents and report progress, changes or care worries straight away
- Write records that are accurate, appropriate and current
- Assist registered nurses within their scope of practice
Requirements & Eligibility
- Commitment to making older people's lives better, plus a passion for aged care
- Able to take any shift on a 24/7 roster
- Caregiving experience preferred
- Dementia care experience counts as a strong advantage
- For visa support: a Registered Nursing degree, or a Level 3 or above caregiving qualification and an International Qualification Assessment (IQA)
