Workshop Technician
Trade · Papakura, Auckland, New Zealand · Full-Time · $50,000/yr
A typical job might start with you checking the drawing and tolerances, then running the CNC, fitting and assembling, welding where needed, and finishing with the parts packed for site. A verified employer in engineering and metal fabrication in Papakura, Auckland, wants an experienced Fitter & CNC Machine Operator for this hands-on Workshop Technician role.
You will own production jobs and keep them organised, accurate and on schedule, combining CNC work with fitting, assembly, fabrication and daily job coordination. This is a broad all-rounder role, not a narrow machine operator post, so you can use your technical knowledge across the whole job.

- Plan workshop jobs and decide production priorities
- Run CNC and general metal fabrication machinery
- Do fitting, assembly and fabrication work to the required specifications

- Keep workshop and site staff informed and talking
- Look after workshop equipment and machinery
- Keep the workshop safe, organised, efficient and clean, with high quality standards
- Visit installation sites now and then to help with fitting
