Waterproofer / Tiler

Two trades, one Brisbane employer. A Queensland building and renovation company runs residential and commercial projects and is hiring a Qualified Waterproofer and a Qualified Tiler to keep them moving.
Paper alone will not get you hired. The company wants proof of how you learnt your trade, the jobs you have finished and the quality you hit day after day. During recruitment you will be asked for your certificates, employment record and evidence of your practical skill.
If you hold a South African trade certificate, have it ready; trades are usually assessed again in Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Seal showers, bathrooms, balconies, other wet zones and structural areas, getting the substrate and surface right before you start
- Put down membranes, sealants and the related products as each job specifies
- Check your waterproofing, before and after, against quality and compliance needs
- Tile walls and floors on houses and commercial builds, with careful measuring, cutting and setting out
- Grout and seal tiles and finish off the fine detail
- Get surfaces flat and sound so tiling can go ahead
- Work from building drawings, plans and specs
- Fit your tasks in with builders, the other trade and everyone else on site
- Meet the Australian Standards that apply, plus site procedures and WHS requirements
- Produce neat, accurate work on every project you are given
- Pick up defects and put them right where needed
- Leave each work area safe and orderly through the whole job
Requirements & Eligibility
- Waterproofer – Recognised Waterproofing Qualification
- Waterproofer – minimum two years of relevant industry experience preferred
- Waterproofer – proven practical work on residential or commercial waterproofing projects
- Waterproofer – understands waterproofing methods, building requirements and WHS procedures, and cooperates easily with the other construction trades
- Tiler – Certificate III in Wall & Floor Tiling or equivalent
- Tiler – minimum two years of relevant industry experience preferred
- Tiler – proven practical wall and floor tiling
- Tiler – precise with detail, measuring and the look of the finished job
- Tiler – can interpret plans, drawings and specs
- Tiler – knows how surfaces must be prepared and what waterproofing needs
- For either role – valid driver’s licence, a dependable vehicle and a White Card
- For either role – can supply proof of qualifications and jobs held, and will complete the verification and recruitment checks
- For either role – eligible for employer sponsorship
