Warehouse Manager

Containers to devan, stocktakes to plan, carriers to manage and a team to lead. This Warehouse Manager job in Mangere, Auckland is with an established distribution operation in New Zealand.

It is far more than looking after stock and dispatch. You will be trusted to run the people, sharpen systems, stay compliant, manage logistics partners and keep the whole warehouse moving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the smooth running of the warehouse each day, planning labour and resources around orders, shipments and priorities
  • Lead, motivate and grow supervisors and staff, and handle hiring, onboarding, training and performance tracking
  • Keep inventory records accurate and organise scheduled stocktakes
  • Track DIFOT, KPIs, productivity and service delivery
  • Rethink layouts to get more out of storage capacity and space
  • Coordinate import container devanning and the receiving work around it, dealing with Customs, freight companies, shipping lines and logistics partners
  • Carry out MPI Facility Operator or Accredited Person duties where required
  • Keep digital workflows accurate through the WMS and linked IT platforms, working closely with Sales, Finance, IT and other teams
  • Manage outside suppliers and service providers that support the warehouse
  • Drive Health & Safety practice and a strong safety culture, and keep facilities, equipment and resources properly maintained
  • Find waste and fix it with practical improvements, building a culture of accountability, teamwork, reliability and continuous improvement

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A proven background as a Warehouse Manager, Distribution Manager or senior warehouse professional
  • A track record leading warehouse teams and operational staff
  • Solid knowledge of inventory management, stock accuracy and warehouse planning
  • Hands-on experience with international freight, imports and container handling
  • Understanding of MPI processes and New Zealand compliance requirements is advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of, and real commitment to, workplace Health & Safety
  • Excellent communication and people management
  • Makes sound decisions and solves problems with confidence
  • Copes with pressure and competing demands in a busy distribution centre
  • A close eye for detail and accuracy
  • Good IT skills, with experience on WMS or integrated warehouse systems in paperless or tech-driven warehouses
  • Commercial sense around productivity, resource allocation and running costs
  • Dependable, punctual and professional, with high standards
  • Genuine evidence of your qualifications, experience and work history for verification
  • Must satisfy applicable New Zealand employment, immigration and sponsorship requirements
