A well-known New South Wales hospitality and events business is adding Casual Wait Staff to its Front of House crew to cover a broad mix of upmarket functions. Your part is making sure each guest is looked after without a hitch and goes home with good memories.

Expect to move between venues and event types, learning from seasoned hospitality and events people. If you love people and the energy of a room in full swing, this fits. Mzansi hospitality workers: keep your references handy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lay out tables, dining spaces, function rooms and service points ahead of each event
  • Meet people at the door with a smile and point them where they need to go
  • Keep service slick and attentive for the whole function
  • Write down orders for meals and drinks correctly, then bring them out promptly in line with house standards
  • Read the room and react quickly to requests
  • Clear plates and re-set tables mid-event and afterwards, so the Front of House space always looks neat and presentable
  • Pull together with the kitchen, the event coordinators and fellow servers so weddings, corporate dinners, private parties and large celebrations go off smoothly
  • Stick to each venue's procedures for food safety, hygiene, staff safety and the responsible serving of alcohol
  • Stay well groomed and upbeat from the first guest to the last
  • Switch easily between venues, event formats, guest expectations and the pace of service

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Preferred: some previous experience in hospitality, waiting, functions or customer service
  • Truly cares about guests having a top-quality time
  • Speaks clearly and gets on easily with people
  • Turns up on time, every time, neatly presented and dependable
  • Handles crowded, quick-changing rooms with ease and cooperates with kitchen and Front of House colleagues
  • Can work evenings, weekends, public holidays and shifts tied to events, as needed
  • Holds a current Australian RSA certificate, or will get one
  • Has appropriate Australian working rights where applicable; overseas hospitality experience that is relevant may be considered for sponsorship
  • Ready to cover several venues throughout New South Wales
