Support Workers
Trade · Christchurch Central, Canterbury, New Zealand · Full-Time · $25 - $35/hr
One shift you might help someone get to a community activity; the next you could be supporting a client in a residential home or a healthcare setting. This Canterbury role covers mental health, disability support, community care and healthcare work around Christchurch.

Key Responsibilities
- Give caring support to people in their community, in residential homes and in healthcare settings
- Help clients with everyday living tasks, their personal goals and getting involved in community life, so they keep a meaningful lifestyle
- Build respectful, positive relationships with clients, their families and support networks
- Support people with disabilities, mental health needs or complex care needs
- Stay calm and professional when situations get difficult or behaviour support is needed
- Protect each client's independence, dignity, wellbeing and sense of inclusion
- Work to care plans, workplace procedures and health and safety rules
- Keep accurate notes and keep healthcare teams informed
- Move between different healthcare and community settings, delivering dependable, person-centred care to a professional standard
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 6 months' experience as a Community Support Worker, Disability Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, Mental Health Assistant or in a similar role
- Past work with people who have complex needs, disabilities or mental health needs is highly regarded
- Can commit to regular shifts and stay reliably available, including a mix of shifts and weekends when required
- Communicates well and brings a caring, respectful and professional manner
- Keeps calm and effective when things get tough
- Committed to high-quality, person-centred support
- Able to keep within safe working hour limits and manage your availability responsibly
- Holds a full New Zealand Driver's Licence and is confident driving service vehicles where required
- Comfortable working across community, disability, mental health and healthcare settings
