Site Engineer

Concrete structures and civil infrastructure in the ACT are where this Site Engineer will spend their days. The employer, an established infrastructure builder, needs someone with real site experience and solid technical knowledge to look after engineering and quality from the start of construction to final completion.

Expect to sit between project managers and the site delivery crew, handling quality assurance, technical coordination, construction planning, documentation and keeping the job moving. Major infrastructure work is on the table, along with a path towards senior site and project engineering roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering side of structural concrete and civil infrastructure work, lining up site needs with project managers, supervisors and crews
  • Put the project's quality assurance system and ITP requirements into practice
  • Book inspections, manage hold and witness points and keep quality records in order
  • Build lot files, conformance records and the paperwork needed at handover
  • Pick up non-conformances, write them up and help resolve them
  • Check drawings, structural details, specs and project requirements
  • Lodge RFIs and chase technical questions with clients, consultants and contractors
  • Back the crew with engineering input during reinforcement, formwork and concrete work, confirming reinforcement matches the approved drawings and specs
  • Assist with setout and confirm works are built where they should be
  • Measure progress against the program and warn early of delays
  • Line up the materials, plant and consumables each planned activity needs
  • Join site inspections, coordination meetings and progress reviews, and give technical help to supervisors and crews
  • Keep engineering, quality and project paperwork accurate
  • Support site safety and environmental compliance
  • Partner with head contractors, subcontractors and other stakeholders to hit quality, program and delivery targets
  • Suggest better ways of running engineering and construction processes

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years working as an Australian Site Engineer on structural concrete or civil infrastructure jobs
  • Tertiary study completed in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a Structural Engineering-related discipline
  • Practical understanding of how construction engineering and site delivery work, and comfortable on live construction sites
  • Strong command of QA systems, ITPs, inspections and construction paperwork
  • You read and interpret structural drawings and technical specifications with ease
  • Experience dealing with RFIs, technical queries and non-conformance processes
  • Clear writing and speaking, plus tidy organisation and documentation
  • White Card
  • A current driver's licence
  • Eligible to get the required ACT site inductions and project access clearances
  • Professional, dependable, a team player who communicates well with stakeholders, and eager to keep learning
  • Bridge building experience is highly regarded
  • Dams, spillways or water infrastructure experience is highly regarded
  • Time with Tier 1 or Tier 2 head contractors is highly regarded
  • Reinforcement scheduling, procurement, fixing supervision and quality control experience is highly regarded
  • Visa sponsorship support may be on offer for eligible candidates
