Service Technician

Trade · Adelaide SA, Australia · Full-Time · $53 - $58/hr

Overhead cranes, hoists, gantries and industrial lifting systems break down, and someone has to find out why. This Adelaide field-service role is for industrial electricians who can prove real hands-on ability and want to specialise in exactly that kind of equipment.

Industry-specific training is provided, and you would put your existing electrical knowledge to work on fault-finding, preventative maintenance, commissioning and breakdown call-outs. Earning potential is strong, overtime is guaranteed, and you get the independence of moving between different industrial sites.

The role asks for a current or provisional Electrical Licence, so South African electricians should look into Australian licensing before applying.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track down electrical faults on overhead cranes, hoists and other industrial lifting gear, using your diagnostic skills on complex problems
  • Respond to breakdowns and emergency call-outs and carry out repairs
  • Do scheduled preventative maintenance, electrical inspections and equipment servicing to the required standards
  • Test, commission and troubleshoot crane control systems
  • Work on PLCs, motors, contactors, VSDs, limit switches and related controls
  • Write accurate service reports and maintenance records
  • Visit customer sites in metro and regional areas, with interstate travel now and then
  • Take your turn on a rotating on-call roster
  • Put in extra hours and guaranteed overtime as needed

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Cert III in Electrotechnology or an equivalent qualification
  • A current Electrical Licence or a Provisional Electrical Licence
  • Proven background in industrial electrical work, including practical time with industrial motors and control systems
  • Hands-on PLC fault-finding experience
  • Can diagnose electrical problems on your own, with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Works independently while keeping customer relationships professional
  • Keen to learn overhead crane and lifting equipment technology
  • Prepared to travel outside metropolitan areas, approximately 10–30%
  • Suitable candidates whose qualifications are verified and whose experience is relevant may be considered for sponsorship
