Balayage, colour corrections, smoothing treatments and kids' cuts all land on the same booking sheet at this growing salon in Takanini, Auckland. The team needs 2 Senior Hairdressers to take on that range.
The salon wants stylists with strong technical skill, confidence with clients and a real love of good hair work, who are ready for their next career step in New Zealand. You will join a supportive, professional team and cover cutting, colour and styling.
Be honest about what you can and cannot do yet; the salon asks you to spell it out. Your qualification will be compared against NZQF Level 4, so have your certificate and transcript ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut women's and children's hair to a high standard and finish with blow waves and polished styles
- Apply global colour and regrowth, foils, highlights and balayage
- Do toning and colour correction work
- Carry out treatments and smoothing services
- Talk through each client's needs and recommend suitable haircare products and treatments
- Hold strong technical and service standards in every appointment, building good relationships with clients
- Run your appointments confidently with little supervision
- Help develop and mentor junior stylists
- Take part in demonstrations, workshops and hands-on training where required
- Keep the salon clean, organised and professional, following its procedures, hygiene rules and workplace standards
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised hairdressing qualification equivalent to NZQF Level 4 or higher
- Minimum 2 years of professional industry experience
- Strong hands-on cutting, colouring, foiling and styling, including balayage, highlights, toning and colour correction
- Confident working on your own in a professional salon
- Strong at client consultations and communicating, with excellent customer service
- Dependable, professional and committed to the job
- Available to work weekends when required
- Beauty therapy skills or previous beauty industry experience is advantageous; experience mentoring junior stylists or running practical training is advantageous
- Able to list clearly the services you can do with confidence, and to say openly where more training or development may be required
- Willing to meet New Zealand employment and visa requirements
