Security Officer

Checking who comes through the gate, walking patrols and staying alert to anything out of place: that is the core of this high-security Security Officer role in Canungra, on the Gold Coast in Queensland.
Because the site is sensitive, every applicant's identity, credentials and suitability are properly assessed. A security qualification on its own is not enough. You need professionalism, good judgement, discretion and a strong sense of responsibility for people and assets.
Sponsorship may be available for eligible people who meet the employment, visa and security requirements. Those without the needed security clearance may also be considered for support through the clearance process, subject to eligibility and conditions. A SAPS police clearance certificate is worth getting early if you are applying from South Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage entry to secure facilities so only authorised people get in
- Patrol the site regularly, keep track of what is happening and act on suspicious behaviour
- Watch for and respond to alarms, incidents and emergencies, using good judgement when handling incidents and escalating concerns
- Be a professional, approachable security presence and communicate clearly with authorised staff, contractors and visitors
- Apply the set security procedures and site protocols every time
- Write accurate reports, logs and other security records
- Keep sensitive information confidential
- Help maintain a secure, respectful and professional workplace
Requirements & Eligibility
- To be eligible for security clearance, Australian Citizenship may be required
- Holds a current QLD Security Licence
- Current security clearance is advantageous
- Willing and eligible to go through the required security clearance process, and able to pass the relevant identity, credential and background checks
- Shows high standards of integrity, honesty and accountability
- Communicates strongly
- Very detail-focused and aware of what is happening around you
- Stays calm and professional under pressure, and follows strict security and operational procedures
- Previous experience in security or another sensitive operational setting is desirable
- Meets the relevant sponsorship eligibility requirements where they apply
