Key Responsibilities
- Carry out commercial roof installs and related construction work, placing roofing materials exactly as the project calls for
- Measure and cut material around penetrations, vents, corners, ridges and other details
- Fit and fix edge and ridge flashings
- Lay waterproof sheets and underlay in the right position and fix the underlay with suitable methods
- Line up starter sheets carefully, then fasten roofing sheets firmly with the correct overlaps
- Read drawings, specs and site requirements to work out which materials are needed for the conditions
- Work with modern roofing, cladding and architectural systems
- Keep workmanship and finish consistent, checking completed work and fixing install problems where needed
- Spot hazards, follow workplace and site safety rules, and handle roofing tools, equipment and materials safely
- Work well with supervisors and other people in construction, keeping the site organised and safety-minded
- Travel to project sites as needed
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven roofing experience is preferred, and experienced overseas Roofers may be considered for sponsorship
- Relevant commercial roofing or cladding experience is highly regarded; construction workers with skills that carry over to roofing may also be considered
- Can measure, cut and install roofing materials accurately
- Able to read construction drawings and specifications
- Practical knowledge of how to stay safe on a building site
- Detail-minded and focused on quality
- Good hands-on and problem-solving skills, and works well in a team
- Dependable and committed to the job
- Physically able to do roofing and construction work, and keen to learn new roofing and cladding techniques
- Happy to move between project sites when required; overseas applicants must satisfy applicable New Zealand employment and immigration requirements
