Project Manager
Trade · Brisbane QLD, Australia · Full-Time · $80,000/yr
Safety, production, budgets, clients and people: on this underground hard rock mine in Brisbane QLD, all of it lands on the Project Manager's desk. You report to the Operations Manager and carry the operation day to day.
The employer wants a mining professional with a track record, not potential. You should be able to lead from the front, read the commercial side of a contract and keep a complex site moving. Workforce development and long-term project results are part of the brief too, inside a structured setup.
If your underground years were spent on South African hard rock mines, set out each operation, your title and what you were accountable for, so the employer can see it at a glance.
Key Responsibilities
- Take charge of all underground work on the mine, both development and production, and show by example that safety comes first
- Deliver the operation's targets without cutting corners on safety, efficiency or budget, and keep raising the bar on quality and output
- Control the project's money: budgets, forecasting, costs and financial results
- Measure site performance, bring in improvement projects and make sure equipment and resources are used to full effect
- Coach and develop strong leaders and crews, and plan staffing, hiring and succession
- Work closely with the client and keep that relationship healthy through good communication
- Pick up operational risks and deal with them in a practical way
- Keep the mine in line with legislation, company policy and safety systems, and run contract admin, reporting and performance tracking
- Encourage a workplace where teamwork and getting better every day are the norm
