Project Engineer

Piling crews on one side, a landscaping contractor on the other and a programme to hold together: this role puts a Project Engineer (or a Senior Project Engineer) in the middle of big recreational, marine and civil builds around the state, based in Perth WA, Western Australia.
What counts is what you can prove, not a title: proper engineering qualifications, real time on site and the coordination skills to take charge of your share of a project. You will juggle contractors, manage the interfaces between work packages and solve problems early so delivery stays on track. Sound practical judgement matters here just as much as theory. Qualified professionals from abroad can be offered work sponsorship. If you are coming from South Africa, have your degree and employment records ready to verify.
Key Responsibilities
- Take charge of the construction activities assigned to you and answer for how they turn out
- Run the site day by day, track how the build is going and keep accurate records and progress reports
- Bring subcontractors, specialist trades and suppliers together, and keep clients, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders in the loop
- Support the programme, schedule and cost control
- Manage where public realm, structural, marine and civil works meet
- Supervise specialist packages (revetments, fender systems, piling) as well as drainage, landscaping and other related civil works
- Study what the build needs and find practical delivery methods, looking for ways to make it more buildable, efficient and successful
- Keep quality paperwork up to date, ITPs, HIRACs and inspection records included
- Make sure environmental, quality and safety requirements are met
- Mentor graduate and junior engineering staff
Requirements & Eligibility
- A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, or a recognised qualification that is equivalent
- Project Engineer level: 2–4 years working in marine or civil construction
- Senior Project Engineer positions: relevant senior-level project delivery and construction background
- Earlier engineering work based on site preferred
- Has coordinated construction crews and subcontractors before
- Knows how quality assurance, cost management and project scheduling work
- Communicates clearly, manages stakeholders well, and keeps organised, tidy documentation
- Can work out what a build requires and fix practical problems on site
- Puts safety and quality first at work
- Takes ownership of tasks proactively and fits well into teams made up of many construction disciplines
- Genuinely keen to deliver big infrastructure and community projects
