You will join a specialist team installing plumbing and heating systems on premium projects, where neat, precise work and reliability are expected every day. The employer wants proven skill, practical experience and a strong work ethic, and your trade history will be verified.
Plumbing in New Zealand is a registered trade, which is why the role asks for registration or eligibility to get it. South African plumbers should gather their trade certificates and job records early.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and maintain plumbing on residential and commercial jobs, including hot and cold water systems, sanitary plumbing and fixtures
- Fit and service pipework, valves, pumps and plumbing controls
- Work on hydronic heating, such as underfloor heating pipework and heating parts, and help on HVAC-related plumbing and technical heating projects
- Install, swap out and commission hot water cylinders and heat pump water heaters
- Read construction plans, drawings and specs, then measure, prepare and join pipework with the right trade methods
- Pressure test, commission and check that systems perform
- Diagnose faults, carry out repairs and come up with workable plumbing solutions
- Follow health and safety standards, keep sites professional and look after tools, equipment and company gear
- Work as a team with technicians, builders and other trades
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised plumbing qualification backed by relevant industry experience, including a minimum three years' experience in plumbing installation, repairs and maintenance
- New Zealand plumbing registration, or eligibility to achieve registration
- Proven work on both residential and commercial plumbing projects
- Exposure to hydronic heating, underfloor heating or HVAC plumbing systems is advantageous
- Able to read technical drawings, plans and project requirements
- Strong technical problem-solving and close attention to detail, with a commitment to quality workmanship and dependable service
- Communicates well and works effectively within a professional team
- Valid driver licence or willingness to obtain one
- Can provide verified records of employment history, qualifications and trade experience; suitable overseas candidates may be considered for AEWV sponsorship based on eligibility requirements
