Mixers, ovens and trays of cakes and pastries set the pace in this commercial production bakery in Dubbo, New South Wales. The business needs someone for its Pastry Chef/Bakery Assistant position who has real hands-on time making cakes and pastries, using commercial gear and working to food-production standards.
Your background must be verified. Skills, qualifications and experience should together show you can confidently do commercial bakery work. Sponsorship under the Orana DAMA may be an option for eligible applicants.
Applicants must already be living in Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Weigh out and prep the ingredients for cakes, pastries and other baked lines, and mix them accurately on commercial equipment
- Operate the mixers, ovens, dispensers and the rest of the production machinery
- Keep an eye on baking and production so every batch comes out consistent, sticking to the set recipes, procedures and quality standards
- Run an organised, efficient production flow
- Meet food safety, hygiene, GMP and HACCP requirements on every shift
- Clean and care for bakery machines and equipment, and keep work areas hygienic throughout production
- Safely handle materials and products weighing up to 25kg, including lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling
- Back up the rest of the bakery team so production requirements are met
Requirements & Eligibility
- Practical background in commercial bakery, pastry or food-production work, and proven skill in preparing and producing bakery or pastry products
- It is advantageous to hold a relevant baking or food-production qualification
- Familiar with food safety and hygiene practices in commercial settings, and with GMP and HACCP principles
- Safe, efficient operator of bakery equipment
- Pays close attention to consistent product quality
- Effective member of a production-focused team
- Can physically manage loads up to 25kg
- Already resident in Australia
- Can supply supporting evidence of qualifications and work experience
- Eligible applicants may be considered for Orana DAMA sponsorship
