This full-time Panel Beater post is in a professional automotive workshop in Clyde, Sydney NSW, with repairs across many vehicle makes and models.
The employer wants a qualified tradesperson with a solid record in smash repairs, vehicle body work and panel restoration. Applications are judged on verified identity and credible trade history, so lay out your qualifications, past employers and hands-on skills clearly. Key Responsibilities
- Read the job sheet and look over each damaged vehicle before any repair begins
- Confirm incoming parts are the right ones, fit for the job and free of defects
- Strip vehicles down as the repair instructions require, taking off damaged panels, frames and other components
- Repair or replace panels and structural parts, then refit them
- Shape, cut, straighten and weld metal, and fabricate repairs with the right workshop tools and methods
- Help with rust treatment, frame alignment and structural repairs when a job calls for it
- Apply body filler, then sand and prepare surfaces
- Put vehicles back together with care once repairs are done, making sure finished work meets quality and industry standards
- Treat every customer and company vehicle with care
- Use tools and equipment properly, keep them clean, safe and working, and keep your bay tidy, organised and safe
- Follow every health and safety procedure, PPE included, pull together with the crew so the workshop runs smoothly, and stay current with new repair methods and industry practice
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised Panel Beater trade qualification, or equivalent industry experience
- Proven background in automotive panel beating and smash repairs
- Able to show and verify your relevant work experience and professional identity
- Strong knowledge of vehicle body repair and how to replace panels
- Practical skill in metal shaping, cutting, welding and fabrication
- Understanding of structural repair, frame alignment and rust treatment
- Experience applying body filler, sanding and preparing surfaces, and able to strip and rebuild vehicle components accurately
- Sharp attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
- Safe, responsible use of tools and workshop equipment, and commitment to workplace safety and OH&S requirements
- A good communicator and team player who is reliable, motivated and professional
- Willing to take part in the employer's candidate verification and assessment process
