Motorcycle Mechanic

Automotive · Moorooka, Brisbane QLD (Remote), Australia · Full-Time · $80,000/yr

Your week moves between the service bay and the diagnostic bench: finding faults, stripping and rebuilding engines, sorting brakes and suspension, then test-riding to check the fix holds. A well-established Queensland motorcycle dealership wants a Motorcycle Mechanic who can do all of this to a steady standard.

What counts most is proof. You should be able to show your trade background and real motorcycle repair skills, and you must work by technical procedures while keeping the workshop safe and professional.

If you trained in South Africa, keep a certified copy of your trade certificate ready; trades are usually assessed again in Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track down mechanical and electrical faults with the right testing and diagnostic gear
  • Check over each motorcycle for faults, wear and the maintenance it needs
  • Service bikes and do preventative maintenance to manufacturer requirements, including engine services, oil changes, lubrication and tune-ups
  • Strip, check and rebuild engines and mechanical assemblies, replacing faulty or worn parts
  • Work on brakes, suspension, steering and transmission systems
  • Follow technical manuals and manufacturer procedures on every repair, then test and adjust the bike afterwards to confirm it performs
  • Explain what repairs are needed and pass on technical details clearly
  • Keep accurate records of repairs, services and parts, and run an organised workshop that meets safety rules
  • Help out with urgent repairs and breakdown jobs when needed

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Relevant Motorcycle Mechanical Technology qualification, or an equivalent trade qualification
  • Minimum two years of relevant industry experience, including proven hands-on motorcycle servicing and repair work
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills, backed by knowledge of motorcycle engine, electrical, braking, suspension, steering and transmission systems
  • Able to use motorcycle diagnostic and workshop equipment
  • Can read and follow technical manuals and manufacturer specifications
  • A proven commitment to accurate, quality workmanship and a strong grasp of workshop safety procedures
  • Able to back up your qualifications and work history with evidence, and to work both on your own and in a professional team
  • Sponsorship available for suitable candidates
