This is a fitter's job with plenty of variety and plenty of time on the tools. A vertically integrated horticultural business with a national footprint needs a trade-qualified mechanical fitter for its packing facility in the Bundaberg region of Queensland. An agricultural recruiter is running the process, and the company is established and growing.
You report to the Maintenance Supervisor in a small maintenance team. The work is servicing and repairing packing line machinery and the mechanical kit around it, cutting breakdowns and keeping production on track. Peak season means extra hours and the odd Saturday. At harvest you travel to support maintenance at another packing facility in the Northern Territory.

Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical faults on the line
- Service and repair machinery as faults come up
- Keep packing line machinery and equipment maintained and repaired
- Find ways to make the machines more efficient and more reliable
- Show team members and contractors how to run the machinery properly
- Work to safety procedures and keep the quality paperwork in order
- Handle other maintenance work the Maintenance Supervisor directs
Requirements & Eligibility
- Relevant mechanical trade qualifications, ideally Fitter (General) or Maintenance Fitter
- Packing line or food processing machinery experience
- Experience maintaining and repairing industrial machinery
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of motors, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, plus welding and steel fabrication skills
- Able to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Proactive, strongly committed to safety, a good communicator and able to work independently or in a team
- A current driver's licence
