Key Responsibilities
- Blast all kinds of industrial products and surfaces with abrasive media, getting each one to the required spec before any paint goes on
- Inspect blasted surfaces to make sure they will take a coating
- Spray epoxy, urethane and other protective systems, keeping an eye on coverage and finish so it comes out even
- Rig up and run blast pots, compressors, spray rigs and the tools that go with them, the right way
- Pick up on problems with surfaces, coatings or gear and report them properly
- Clean, service and check the blasting and coating equipment
- Hit the required quality standards and project deadlines, working the same careful way on every job
- Follow site safety procedures, industry requirements and Australian Standards
- Get on well with supervisors and other trades
- Keep your work area clean, orderly and safe
- Put in the odd night or weekend shift when required, with penalty rates applicable
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years' genuine hands-on experience in abrasive blasting
- A proven track record in industrial blasting and protective coatings, covering quality surface prep and putting industrial coatings on
- Knows blasting, prep and coating processes well
- Can show and verify your relevant trade experience
- Careful with detail and proud of your work
- Takes workplace health and safety seriously, every day
- Dependable, professional work ethic
- Fine working solo and pulls weight in a team
- Physically up to a demanding industrial environment
- Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application is highly regarded
- AMPP/NACE or recognised protective coatings qualifications are highly regarded, as are a Forklift licence and a White Card
- Applicants must satisfy the relevant employment and compliance requirements
