HD Mechanic

A 2/1 roster, quality tooling and a fleet of heavy mobile mining machines to keep running: that is the set-up for HD Mechanics heading to a major mining operation in the USA. The employer wants tradespeople with a proven record on heavy mining gear who are ready to use their skills on an international site.
Everything centres on practical ability: tracing faults, maintaining complex machinery and keeping critical equipment running safely and reliably. Your trade qualification, work history and real time on equipment will weigh heavily when your suitability is judged. Pay is competitive with overtime on offer, and the first contract runs 12 months with a chance of extension. Have the documents that prove your employment history ready, since they will be checked.
Key Responsibilities
- Service and maintain heavy mobile mining machines, including Sandvik, Epiroc, CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi and similar makes
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections
- Track down mechanical faults with accurate diagnostics, troubleshooting performance issues to their root
- Repair or swap out mechanical components when needed
- Work from technical manuals and diagnostic data while repairing
- Keep machines available and downtime as low as possible
- Follow site procedures on every maintenance job and keep safety standards high throughout
- Record each repair, inspection and maintenance task
- Back up site crews so the mine runs reliably
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel, HD or Mobile Plant Mechanic
- At least 5 years of industry experience after completing your trade
- Proven work on heavy mobile plant or mining machinery, and hands-on time with major OEM equipment
- Experience on Sandvik, Epiroc, CAT, Komatsu or Hitachi machines
- Strong at fault-finding, diagnostics and mechanical repairs
- A work history backed by relevant employment documents, and the ability to show real hands-on technical experience
- Willing to work a 2/1 roster, safely, in a demanding mining environment
- Willing to relocate to the USA
- Able to meet the visa and sponsorship requirements that apply
