Goldfields Field Service - HD Mechanic

Breakdowns do not happen in a workshop, and neither does most of this job. An established employer in Western Australia needs a qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic to give field-based support on client sites: attending breakdowns, finding faults, completing maintenance and backing up day-to-day operations across a range of heavy equipment.

South African diesel mechanics should note that trades are usually assessed again for Australia, often through Trades Recognition Australia, so keep your trade certificate handy.
Key Responsibilities
- Head out to client sites to repair and maintain heavy equipment, including major OEM machines
- Find the cause of mechanical and equipment faults and fix them
- Respond to breakdowns and get repairs done quickly
- Carry out preventative and scheduled servicing
- Help with shutdowns and with moving equipment when required
- Plan your own day so jobs are finished on time, to a high standard of workmanship
- Write up accurate service reports and maintenance records
- Keep clients, site representatives and your team in the loop
- Follow workplace and site safety procedures and help keep the team professional and safety-focused
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised Heavy Diesel trade qualification, or an equivalent relevant qualification
- Relevant background working as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Mechanic, repairing and maintaining heavy mobile equipment
- Sharp diagnostic, fault-finding and problem-solving ability
- Time on major OEM equipment is highly regarded
- Valid driver's licence that meets the needs of the role
- Holding a High Risk Work Licence (LF and/or WP) is advantageous
- Comfortable working in a field service setting
- Firm grasp of safe work practices
- Able to pass the required pre-employment assessments
- Communicates well in writing and in person
- Qualifications, work history and professional identity must be verifiable; eligible international candidates may be considered for employer sponsorship
