Event and Commercial Manager

Trade · Floreat, Perth WA (Hybrid), Australia · Full-Time · $80,000/yr

Race day in Western Australia starts months earlier, with budgets, sponsors, suppliers and volunteers all lined up long before the start gun. This Floreat-based hybrid position puts you in charge of that run-up for major sporting events, and keeps you on the ground when the day arrives.

Half the work is delivery. The other half is commercial: growing partnerships, activating sponsorship and finding ways to lift revenue and participation. You will also back the Race Directors on State Series and Championship events.

The employer wants someone organised, accountable and at ease with people, who can carry a project from first idea to pack-down. Sponsorship is on offer for eligible candidates. Have references ready that speak to events you have run yourself.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take charge of major sporting events end to end, from the earliest plan to the last detail on the day
  • Act as the main contact for sponsors, partners, suppliers, contractors, volunteers and everyone else with a stake, and keep those links healthy
  • Grow commercial and community partnerships, help activate sponsorships and spot new partnership openings
  • Find room to boost participation, revenue and event quality while improving how stakeholders experience each event
  • Sort out staff, volunteers, contractors and logistics, run event-day operations and make firm calls while things are live
  • Partner with marketing teams so events are well promoted and clearly communicated
  • Back the Race Directors in delivering State Series and Championship events
  • Stay on top of deadlines, resources, logistics and clashing priorities, and solve operational problems in a practical way
  • Draw on what you already know about running events to make each one better than the last
  • Help with strategic projects and initiatives aimed at growing the organisation

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Relevant event management experience is essential: you need demonstrated experience in professional event management or a related field
  • Proven ability to pull events together and deliver them well, backed by a record of owning work and achieving practical results
  • Strong skills in building relationships and communicating
  • Experience working with sponsors, partners, suppliers or other outside stakeholders
  • A commercial mindset, with a feel for revenue and how a business grows
  • Excellent planning and organisation, with close attention to detail
  • Strong at making decisions and solving problems
  • Able to perform well under pressure at a fast pace, and to handle multiple projects and priorities at once
  • Leads with confidence and is happy to roll up sleeves and be hands-on
  • Puts customers, members and the community first
  • Flexible availability for occasional weekend work and longer hours on event days
  • Willingness to work in Western Australia; sponsorship available for eligible candidates
