Electrician

A house rewire in the morning, a CCTV and access control fit-out at a commercial site in the afternoon. This Electrician role in Leichhardt, Sydney is for an experienced Electrical & Security Technician who mixes traditional electrical work with modern security systems, including alarms and intercoms.
You will work locally on a steady 40-hour week, with support and training to widen your skills. The employer wants genuine trade ability, someone who owns their jobs and earns client trust through professional standards.
Overseas-qualified electricians need to meet Australian licensing eligibility, so check how your South African wireman's or trade qualification is assessed before you apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical installation, maintenance and repairs in homes and commercial properties
- Install and maintain CCTV and security surveillance, alarm, intercom and access control systems
- Visit customer sites, size up what each job needs and finish allocated work accurately, efficiently and to a high standard
- Build good client relationships with professional communication and presentation, keeping customers updated on job progress and requirements
- Own your assigned jobs with minimal supervision
- Stay compliant with electrical safety requirements and workplace procedures
- Keep tools, equipment and work areas tidy and safe
- Represent the business professionally in customers' homes and commercial premises
Requirements & Eligibility
- Australian electrical licence, or an overseas electrical qualification eligible for Australian licensing; overseas-qualified candidates who meet Australian licensing eligibility are encouraged to apply
- Minimum 3 years of practical electrical experience, covering residential and commercial electrical work
- Confident working with electrical systems and installations
- Experience with CCTV, alarms, intercoms or access control is advantageous
- Has your own electrical hand tools
- Australian driver's licence
- White Card
- Working at Heights and EWP tickets are advantageous
- Strong customer service and communication, with professional appearance and conduct around clients
- Dependable, self-motivated and able to work alone
- Can provide qualifications and employment experience that can be verified
- Sponsorship available for eligible overseas candidates
