This Regents Park, Sydney role suits an electrician who enjoys that hunt more than routine installation work. The employer is an Australian technical service business looking for a capable Electrician / Electrical Field Service Technician to support its catering and foodservice equipment customers.
Expect a mix: on-site field service, diagnostics, repairs, testing, commissioning and technical support across many types of commercial equipment. Reliable fixes delivered at the customer site are the goal. Along the way you gain specialised experience in the Australian industry, working with a professional service team. Your trade certificate and evidence of past work will both be checked.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend customer premises for scheduled servicing and breakdown repairs on foodservice and commercial catering equipment
- Find the electrical fault behind each equipment failure using systematic troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Assess circuits and components with test instruments
- Swap out or fix defective electrical components
- Where appropriately licensed, carry out equipment modifications and electrical wiring
- Confirm safe operation by testing equipment once repairs are done
- Install and commission new commercial units
- Answer troubleshooting questions over the phone and by email, and give technical assistance to customers and service colleagues
- Support service-related investigations and warranty assessments
- See each service job through, start to finish, and resolve technical issues together with suppliers and manufacturers
- Source spare parts and components for repairs, and assist with electrical preparation and assembly of equipment
- Record completed service work, parts used and repairs clearly
- Help out with warehouse and workshop operations when required
- Keep customer relationships professional as a representative of the service team, and follow established workplace procedures and electrical safety requirements
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised electrical trade qualification
- Relevant electrical licence, or eligibility to obtain the licensing required
- Proven, practical diagnostics and electrical fault finding
- Strong understanding of components, controls, wiring and electrical circuits
- Demonstrated servicing and repair of electrical equipment, with experience on commercial, industrial, appliance or electro-mechanical equipment
- Advantageous: foodservice equipment or commercial kitchen experience
- Works independently when diagnosing and resolving technical faults
- Highly regarded: earlier mobile technician or field service experience
- Strong practical problem-solving and analytical skills
- Customer service and communication that is professional, and able to work effectively with manufacturers, suppliers, contractors and technicians
- Good at organising and managing jobs
- Reliable and strongly focused on quality and safety
- Advantageous: gas-related experience or licensing. Also advantageous: a forklift licence or experience
- Current Australian driver's licence or equivalent
- Genuine supporting evidence of qualifications and relevant work experience can be provided
