Early Childhood Educator

Key Responsibilities

  • Care for children in a warm, responsive way that lifts their learning and wellbeing
  • Earn the trust of children, parents and the educators you work beside
  • Plan and deliver play-based activities and everyday learning, guided by EYLF V2.0 and/or MTOP
  • Pick up on what each child is curious about, good at and still developing, then respond to it
  • Watch, note down and think about how each child is learning and moving forward
  • Help children grow in confidence and independence, join in, and feel they belong
  • Set up rooms that are inclusive, tidy and full of things to explore
  • Partner with Room Leaders and the broader team, and keep conversations with parents and co-workers professional
  • Keep children safe through proper supervision, health and hygiene routines
  • Stick to the laws, regulations, policies and procedures that govern the service, and join quality improvement and service development work
  • Add to a team culture built on respect, accountability and working together

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, or an equivalent ACECQA-approved qualification
  • Hands-on time in an early childhood education service
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Current Anaphylaxis and Emergency Asthma Management training, plus relevant child protection and national child safety training
  • Familiar with EYLF V2.0 and/or MTOP and with the Australian early childhood education legislation and regulatory requirements that apply
  • Speaks and writes clearly
  • Treats the safety and wellbeing of children with professionalism and responsibility
  • Forms good bonds with children and their families
  • A team player in a collaborative setting
  • Holds to professional standards and keeps improving; ready to complete every required employment, compliance and suitability check
  • Suitable, eligible candidates can be sponsored, subject to applicable requirements and once probation is successfully completed
