Drainage Operators & Drainlayer
Trade · Queenstown-Lakes, Otago, New Zealand · Full-Time · $25/hr
Pipes, trenches and big machines in the Queenstown-Lakes area of Otago. A civil construction outfit is looking for experienced Drainlayers, Drainage Operators, Drainage Labourers, 20T Excavator Operators and Multi-Skilled Operators with Class 4.
The projects are serious infrastructure: drainage, wastewater, stormwater, utilities, earthworks, roading and general civil work. No two weeks look alike, so it suits someone who likes sorting out practical problems on site instead of repeating one task.
Getting into the New Zealand market takes the right background and attitude, and the aim is people who can join a new crew and be productive from the first day. Applications are judged on your real work history, relevant experience and hands-on skills, so the role fits what you can actually do on site. Keep your licences and references together before you apply.

- Handle concrete construction and finishing, and help with landscaping and putting sites back to their original state
- Read project requirements, finish work to spec and help come up with practical answers to site problems
- Get through the workload at pace without dropping below the quality bar
- Work hand in hand with operators, drainlayers, supervisors and other people on site
- Stick to health, safety and environmental procedures and help keep needless impacts on the environment and community low
- Look after machines, tools, work zones and the wider site
