Key Responsibilities
- Plan and organise prep ahead of each day’s service, keeping the workflow efficient across prep and cooking areas
- Cook Indian dishes to set quality and presentation standards, with consistent recipes, portions, flavour and plating
- Keep cooking and prep moving during busy trading
- Track ingredient use and help control food costs
- Keep stock at the right level and help with purchasing
- Receive, check, store and rotate supplies correctly
- Help with menu preparation, recipe development and costing dishes
- Coordinate kitchen tasks so service is on time
- Train and guide junior kitchen staff and help supervise the team when needed
- Uphold food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Cut food waste through smart prep and stock practices
- Work well with front-of-house and the kitchen team
Requirements & Eligibility
- Around 3–4 years of relevant commercial cooking experience, including Indian cuisine in a professional kitchen
- Strong understanding of Indian ingredients, spices, recipes and cooking techniques
- Experience in a busy restaurant or high-volume food service
- A hospitality qualification or relevant formal training is advantageous
- Knowledge of food costing, portion control and kitchen cost management, plus stock control, ordering and waste minimisation
- Able to hold quality and productivity during busy services
- Strong organisation and time management
- Clear communication and good teamwork, including within a diverse hospitality team
- Sound knowledge of food hygiene and safe kitchen practices
- A professional, dependable and positive approach to work
- Willingness to complete relevant employment, experience and eligibility verification
