Coded Welder

Fixed plant breakdowns, shutdown campaigns, structural repairs and pressure pipe on the 6G: this is the day-to-day for a Coded Welder in Kwinana, Western Australia. The work is long-term and covers heavy industrial maintenance and fabrication.
You will need to show genuine hands-on experience, recognised qualifications and the skill to meet coded welding requirements, working both in the workshop and out on site.
A strong employment history with proof of your welding and fabrication work will count. Sponsorship is limited to eligible onshore candidates. If your trade certificate is South African, keep certified copies ready, as Australian employers and assessors usually want to see it.
Key Responsibilities
- Lay down coded welds on pressure pipe and structural steel, with 6G positional work and fabrication that meets the set standards
- Build up or mend pipework, tanks, chutes, hoppers and ducting, plus alter and patch up fixed plant
- Strengthen structural supports and change out tired or broken parts on pumps, thickeners and similar plant
- Follow engineering drawings and specs, whether at the bench in the workshop or out on site
- Cover scheduled preventative jobs, breakdown call-outs and corrective fixes, and join shutdown and maintenance campaigns
- Hold every weld and task to a high, safe and accurate standard in line with site safety rules and welding codes
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven experience working as a Coded Welder, with a strong practical welding and fabrication background
- Able to successfully complete a 6G weld test
- Cert III Mechanical Engineering or a relevant Engineering Trade qualification
- Experience with fixed plant maintenance is highly desirable
- A verifiable employment history in welding and fabrication, and able to provide evidence of your qualifications and trade experience
- Current Working at Heights and Confined Space certifications, both obtained within the previous 2 years
- A current driver's licence
- Able to pass a pre-employment medical
- A strong commitment to safety, quality and professional workmanship
