Key Responsibilities

  • Look after little ones from 0 to 6 years of age, giving them close care, gentle guidance and proper supervision
  • Make the room a secure, nurturing and interesting place where each child knows they matter, and help the whole centre feel upbeat and welcoming to all
  • Draw out each child's sense of wonder, self-belief, independence and ability to get along with others
  • Take part in planning and leading fun learning activities suited to each age group, adding your own ideas to get the children involved
  • Back the educational program, guided by the Early Years Learning Framework
  • Note how children are progressing and record it in portfolios, learning notes, electronic programming and development files
  • Earn the trust of children and families through honest, respectful relationships
  • Talk often and professionally with parents, guardians and co-workers
  • Partner with the other educators so every child gets the same high standard of care
  • Tailor support to each child's own needs, interests and goals
  • Stick to centre policies, child safety steps and legal requirements, in line with the National Quality Framework and National Quality Standards
  • Get involved in training, upskilling and team activities

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Studying for, or already holding, a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (Diploma-qualified people are encouraged too)
  • Real enthusiasm for looking after and educating little ones
  • Keen to put down roots in the Australian early childhood sector for the long haul
  • Brings warmth, patience and positivity to time with kids
  • Talks and listens well, and earns the trust of children, parents and co-workers
  • Dependable, accountable and professional
  • A natural collaborator who enjoys teamwork
  • Lively, upbeat and eager to learn
  • Adaptable and open to new ideas from children and fellow educators alike
  • Familiar with the EYLF, NQF, National Regulations and National Quality Standards
  • Comfortable with computers and digital record-keeping
  • Holds a current Queensland Blue Card or can obtain one
  • Can successfully clear a National Police Check
  • Trained in First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis, or ready to gain the required certifications
  • For overseas candidates: you must clear the applicable qualification and ACECQA assessment requirements, have English language proficiency suitable for your visa pathway, and fulfil the Australian visa and sponsorship conditions that apply
