Chef

Hospitality · Sydney NSW, Australia · Full-Time · $33/hr

Early starts, daytime trade and good produce shape this kitchen. A growing hospitality business in New South Wales is after an experienced Café Chef who treats every plate as their own and turns out excellent café and breakfast food, service after service.

There is room to do more than cook: pitch ideas, help with menu development and tighten up kitchen systems. The business wants people building a career, and as it expands, capable team members may step into senior chef and kitchen leadership roles.

Sponsorship is available for an eligible candidate who meets the experience and role criteria, and people with unrestricted Australian working rights are also encouraged to apply. Expect to show your professional background during recruitment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Turn out café and breakfast plates of a high, steady standard, paying close attention to flavour, seasoning, texture and look
  • Keep portion sizes, prep and plating the same every time, even when service is under pressure
  • Stay quick and calm through busy breakfast and lunch rushes
  • Respect good ingredients and keep prep standards high
  • Work hand in hand with senior chefs and the rest of the crew
  • Pitch ideas for specials, seasonal plates and menu improvements
  • Help shape and refine how the kitchen runs, finding ways to lift efficiency, organisation and service
  • Keep food safety, hygiene and cleanliness up at all times

  • Prep and store food smartly so little goes to waste
  • Have sections clean, tidy and set for service
  • Help train and support newer cooks
  • Speak clearly and professionally throughout prep and service
  • Own your tasks, tackle problems early and use feedback to keep growing as a cook
  • Help build a kitchen culture that is respectful, accountable and professional
