Eggs, toast stacks and brunch plates flying out on a Monday-to-Friday daytime roster. A busy café in Spring Hill, Brisbane, Queensland wants an experienced Full-Time Brunch Chef who can own the kitchen during a hectic morning service.
You will keep prep, plating, hygiene and organisation sharp, back up your teammates and make sure every breakfast and brunch dish comes out the same high standard. The café is established, and the right person can grow their career here.
They want proof of what you can do, so have your work history and references ready. Experience from a busy South African breakfast spot or hotel kitchen is the kind of background that shows well.
Key Responsibilities
- Cook breakfast and brunch dishes to a high standard every time, showing strong hands-on skills right through service
- Keep quality, portions and plating consistent
- Own the kitchen's prep and service needs, staying on top of tasks when the café is flat out
- Hold food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards, and keep the kitchen tidy and ready to go
- Work confidently solo or with the team
- Help train and develop new kitchen staff, and give practical leadership and direction while service is running
- Work hand in hand with the Head Chef/Owner to keep kitchen standards up
- Add to a positive, professional workplace
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven professional experience working as a Chef, with strong practical cooking and food prep skills
- Experience in café, brunch or breakfast operations is highly regarded
- Shown you can keep quality up when service is busy, and take ownership of kitchen duties
- Has trained or mentored kitchen staff before, with strong leadership and team coordination
- Dependable, on time and well organised
- Communicates well and gets on with people, bringing a positive, professional attitude
- Solid understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene, with high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Asian cuisine knowledge or experience is an advantage
- Able to work the required Monday-to-Friday daytime roster
- Relevant professional experience and skills must be demonstrable and verifiable
- Sponsorship available for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate
