Picture your own section in a busy Rodney kitchen, north of Auckland: prepping, cooking and plating international-style dishes while the Head Chef and Sous Chef count on you to keep it running. That is the job for this Chef de Partie.

Key Responsibilities
- Run your assigned section each day, from mise en place and service prep to cooking and plating dishes at a high professional standard
- Take direction from the Head Chef and Sous Chef while showing initiative on your own station
- Help prepare daily specials and seasonal menu items, and offer ideas and skills that support menu development and service
- Cook international-style dishes fit for a professional dining room
- Use ingredients carefully to protect quality and avoid wasted food costs, and cut waste through good prep, storage and stock control
- Keep prep areas clean, organised and ready for service, along with high personal hygiene, food safety and sanitation
- Watch stock levels and tell senior kitchen staff what is needed
- Receive, check and store deliveries correctly, rotating stock across chillers, freezers and dry stores
- Work quickly and stay calm through high-volume services
- Join team meetings, training, supplier visits and development activities, and get to know local New Zealand ingredients and produce
- Speak politely and professionally with guests when asked
- Build good working relationships in a diverse, multicultural kitchen and help teammates when the operation needs it
- Take on other reasonable duties set by senior kitchen management
Requirements & Eligibility
- Professional experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar commercial kitchen role, with practical experience running your own section
- Proven ability to prepare and cook food to professional standards
- Strong knowledge of food prep, kitchen hygiene and food safety procedures
- Able to work on your own and as part of a team, performing consistently in a fast-paced kitchen
- Strong communication and people skills, with a reliable, professional and positive attitude
- Close attention to detail, commitment to food quality and a real passion for cooking and growing professionally
- Able to work respectfully in a multicultural team, with good organisation and time-management
- Relevant culinary qualifications are advantageous
- Candidates should be able to give genuine and verifiable evidence of their professional experience and the skills they claim
- Overseas applicants must meet the applicable New Zealand employment, immigration and sponsorship requirements
