The established hospitality business serves high-quality bistro food, has a strong name for food and service, and has earned industry recognition for its commitment to hospitality excellence.
The kitchen is busy but supportive, and the venue values quality, creativity and its people. You will help create memorable dining experiences, pitch ideas for seasonal offerings and have real room to grow your culinary career in a team-focused workplace where skills are valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Cook a range of top-quality bistro dishes, keeping an eye on each one through prep and service
- Bring creative ideas to the weekly specials and menu, and help plan and develop menus
- Work out how much food and labour each period needs
- Order kitchen and food supplies and keep track of them
- Hold food quality, consistency and presentation to a high bar
- Keep service smooth by working closely with front-of-house and the kitchen team
- Guide others on cooking techniques and food prep procedures, and help train kitchen staff when required
- Keep food hygiene and safety strict, making sure kitchen practices meet the relevant hygiene regulations
- Run a clean, organised, efficient kitchen
- Back up the team when service gets busy
- Help with preserving, freezing and storing food where required
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 1 year of relevant Chef or commercial kitchen experience
- Hands-on experience cooking and preparing food in a professional kitchen
- Strong grasp of food prep, presentation and quality control, plus knowledge of food safety and commercial kitchen hygiene standards
- Works efficiently when the venue is busy
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a positive attitude to teamwork and continuous improvement
- Motivated, reliable and ready to take responsibility
- A creative approach to food prep and the weekly specials
- Able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays
