Chef

Hospitality · Canberra ACT, Australia · Full-Time · $80,000/yr

Grill section one night, wood-fired oven the next, and a busy pub kitchen at the weekend: the work with this established hospitality group in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) is varied. The verified Australian employer is offering genuine roles for experienced Chefs.

Hiring is about finding the right person, not squeezing you into a rigid job title. Strong Chef de Partie candidates ready to step up and Sous Chefs who want a stable long-term career may both suit. Expect quality produce, room to build your technical skills and a team that values consistency, teamwork and growth. This is a more transparent path: a verified employer and real career development, rather than just answering a sponsorship advert.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cook dishes to the set recipes and standards, keeping quality, portions and plating the same every time
  • Run the sections you are given through prep and service, finishing your daily mise en place
  • Move between restaurant, pub, grill and wood-fired stations as the day demands
  • Check that nothing leaves the pass below standard, and help hold quality across the whole kitchen
  • Keep your bench clean, tidy and efficient
  • Stick to food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures
  • Keep your cool through big, high-volume services and back up the cooks around you so service flows
  • Talk clearly with the other chefs and kitchen staff
  • Join in training and development, and help build a respectful, reliable, team-first culture

Requirements & Eligibility

  • You have relevant experience as a Chef de Partie, Sous Chef or in a similar commercial kitchen role
  • You hold a recognised culinary qualification and/or have substantial hands-on experience
  • You know food preparation and commercial cooking techniques well and keep food quality and presentation high
  • You have worked efficiently in a busy professional kitchen and understand food safety and hygiene rules
  • Experience with grill or wood-fired cooking is desirable but not essential
  • You are organised, manage your time well and fit into a professional kitchen team
  • You are reliable, motivated and keen to keep developing professionally
  • Suitable candidates must meet relevant Australian employer sponsorship and visa requirements
