Chef and Cook

Prep first, then the rush. Your shift starts with chopping, portioning and setting up your section, and once tickets arrive you cook each meal exactly to the menu and plate it the same way every time. The employer is an established WA hospitality operation in the Bunbury and South West area, offering this full-time Cook position.
They want someone steady and practical who keeps their head when service speeds up. This is a properly defined role with genuine day-to-day duties rather than a sponsorship-first offer, and eligible people get room to grow in hospitality alongside a crew that backs them.
Key Responsibilities
- Chop, portion and set up your section ahead of time, and keep topping it up while tickets come in
- Cook every meal the way the menu spells it out, with the same taste, portion size and plating each time
- Pace your own cooking so plates go out when service needs them
- Help the senior cooks run the day and keep the whole crew moving in an orderly way
- Look over ingredients as they are used and tell the right person when stock is low or something is needed
- Wipe down, sanitise and tidy benches and cooking stations, sticking to the venue's food-safety, hygiene and safe-work rules
- Label, cover and put food away correctly so it stays safe to eat
- Deal politely with diners' questions or requests about dishes, and lend a hand with any other jobs that keep service on track
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 1–2 years of commercial cooking experience, some of it gained in a hectic hospitality, restaurant or pub-style kitchen
- You turn out many different meals quickly and to the same standard, sticking closely to recipes, procedures and instructions
- You know safe food handling and food hygiene well
- You manage your time and know what to cook first when service is busy
- You show up reliably, stay positive, back your teammates and speak clearly with the other cooks
- Food safety certification is advantageous
- You can do flexible shifts, evenings, weekends and public holidays included
- If you are applying from overseas, you must be able to satisfy the employer sponsorship and visa rules that apply
