CAT Product Support Advisor

Trade · Perth WA, Australia · Full-Time · $80,000/yr

Product Support Advisors on these FIFO rosters in Western Australia do more than spanner work. They study why a machine keeps failing and help mine sites get more reliability, availability and output from their fleets.

You will sit alongside site maintenance teams, using diagnostics, fault-finding and Caterpillar know-how to pin down problems, suggest fixes and improve maintenance practice. Some days are advisory, others hands-on, depending on what the operation needs.

Candidates are matched on real qualifications, verified work history and technical ability. South African plant fitters from the mines often have exactly this background; expect your trade certificate to be checked against Australian standards.

  • Give specialist technical advice to site maintenance staff
  • Inspect machines, judge their condition and flag reliability risks, recommending better maintenance where needed
  • Help plan and roll out preventative maintenance, and assist with component changes and planned maintenance work
  • Back up warranty matters with technical support
  • Fault-find to keep downtime as low as possible
  • Feed technical ideas into fleet optimisation and continuous improvement projects to lift reliability, availability and efficiency
  • Get hands-on when the operation needs it
  • Keep service and technical records clear and correct
  • Help with technical training and passing on knowledge, building good relationships with customers and site teams
  • Follow site safety requirements, procedures and environmental standards while working FIFO rosters and long shifts

  • Recognised Mobile Plant Trade Certificate or an equivalent international qualification
  • Proven experience maintaining heavy mobile plant, gained in mining, field service or large-scale equipment maintenance
  • Strong practical experience with Caterpillar machinery highly regarded
  • Advanced diagnostic and fault-finding skills, and able to analyse equipment problems and recommend effective fixes
  • Sound grasp of preventative maintenance and reliability principles
