Floor layers, listen up. A solid, established flooring outfit in Christchurch, New Zealand is growing and needs carpet and flooring installers. It wants experienced hands, seniors who can run a job, and keen learners. Apprentices are welcome too, and more than one person may be hired.
The work is houses and light commercial jobs in and around Christchurch. It is permanent, full-time work. Minimum 37.5 hours a week, normally 40 to 42, mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd extra hour when needed. Seniors take a job from rocking up on site to done and dusted, and keep another installer or a small crew organised. Trainees learn the ropes next to experienced installers.

Key Responsibilities
- Go over the job info first and check materials, quantities and what the install needs.
- Measure up, set out, cut and fit the flooring spot on.
- Lay carpet and underlay and finish off with trims and accessories.
- Put down sheet vinyl and vinyl plank once trained and competent.
- Rip up old flooring and get rid of it.
- Prep floors with smoothing, grinding and levelling where needed.
- Report access, prep, scheduling or site-condition issues straight away.
- Keep the quality up and leave every job clean and tidy.
- Stay professional with customers, builders, site managers and suppliers.
- Fill in timesheets and job info properly.
- Load, unload and transport materials, tools and equipment safely, keep your tools in shape and follow health and safety requirements.
Requirements & Eligibility

- Handles flooring materials safely and can do the physical side of the job.
- Full driver licence for senior installers; for junior and trainee applicants a licence is preferred and reliable transport to the agreed meeting point is essential.
- Seniors need strong carpet installation skills, can run jobs independently and have the confidence to organise and support another installer or a small crew; sheet vinyl and vinyl plank experience is highly valued.
- No previous flooring experience is required for trainees, but reliability, willingness to learn, practical interest and a good attitude to work are essential.
