Cafe Duty Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Run the café day to day so service stays welcoming and professional all shift, from opening to closing procedures
  • Coordinate the team, hand out duties to keep the workflow and service standards on track, and support and guide staff when trade is busy
  • Supervise the till, sales processing and correct customer payments
  • Oversee coffee, drinks and food prep so quality and presentation hold, including preparing and packing coffee products
  • Help customers with questions about products, the menu and service, and deal with complaints professionally
  • Keep service and work areas clean, hygienic, well presented and organised all day
  • Watch stock levels and organise restocking of shelves, displays and café supplies
  • Help train team members and keep workplace service standards up, ensuring food safety, hygiene and health and safety requirements are met
  • Behave professionally and represent the business well with every customer

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Earlier experience in a café, hospitality, customer service or supervisory role is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience helping to coordinate or support daily café operations
  • Hands-on barista and coffee skills are a strong advantage
  • Proven at giving customer service that is reliable, consistent and professional
  • Communicates clearly and has strong people skills
  • Can lead, support and work well in a hospitality team, taking responsibility for operational tasks and making sound decisions on your own
  • A positive attitude and willing to learn and take on more responsibility
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, professional integrity, good personal presentation and professional conduct
  • Juggles several responsibilities in a busy customer-facing setting
  • Understands food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements
  • Available to work both weekend days or at least one Sunday
  • Hospitality experience and employment history that are genuine and can be verified
  • Must satisfy the New Zealand employment and visa requirements that apply; candidates who need employer-supported visa sponsorship may be considered
