A long-running Queensland manufacturer is adding a qualified cabinet maker to its permanent production team. You should have solid time on the tools, be at home reading technical drawings and be comfortable on modern machinery, CNC routers included.
The employer values real qualifications and practical skill. Trades are usually assessed again in Australia, so have your South African trade certificate and a portfolio of your joinery ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Build custom cabinetry and joinery to spec, including kitchens, laundries, wardrobes and bespoke pieces
- Read technical drawings, plans and production paperwork, then measure and prep materials accurately
- Run CNC routers and other automated woodworking machines, as well as panel saws, beam saws and edge banders
- Assemble cabinet and joinery parts precisely
- Check quality all through production, spot manufacturing problems and adjust, so finished pieces meet quality and presentation standards
- Help install on site when needed
- Keep tools, machines and your area in good order and follow health and safety rules
- Work with the production and installation crews
- Get your work done efficiently without letting quality slip
Requirements & Eligibility
- Relevant Cabinet Making trade qualification or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on cabinet making
- A record of producing custom cabinetry, with a background in residential and/or commercial joinery manufacturing
- Hands-on time running CNC machinery
- Can read and make sense of technical drawings
- Deep knowledge of how cabinets are built and made
- Very accurate, with close attention to detail and quality work every time
- Dependable, responsible and professional
- Works well in a team
- Experience with premium residential or commercial joinery is advantageous
- Overseas applicants must meet applicable Australian migration requirements and must be eligible for employer sponsorship where applicable
