Steady brickwork on homes and commercial buildings across Perth: that is what a Western Australian construction company is offering qualified Bricklayers, along with the chance to build a long-term future in the trade.
What counts here is proof. The employer is looking for recognised trade qualifications, genuine time on the tools and brickwork that meets the standard on Australian sites. Once your qualifications and experience have been checked, sponsorship is available if you are a suitable fit.
A South African trade test certificate is a good start, but trades are usually assessed again for Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Study the building plans, drawings and project specs before any work starts
- Mark out the brickwork precisely ahead of construction
- Mix mortar until it has the correct consistency, then lay brick and block to the lines, levels and specs required
- Use a spirit level and measuring gear to confirm alignment, correcting any line or workmanship faults you find
- Operate brick saws and the other tools of the trade
- Produce a quality finish on all brickwork and get assigned tasks done efficiently within the project timeline
- Follow site procedures and safety rules while working with supervisors and fellow tradespeople
- Look after your tools, gear and work area so everything stays in good condition
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum Certificate III or equivalent as a recognised Bricklaying trade qualification
- Professional bricklaying experience you can demonstrate, backed by practical understanding of both residential and commercial building
- Can read construction plans and understand them
- Turns out brickwork that is consistent and accurate, with proof of doing so
- Competent on brick cutting gear, spirit levels and measuring tools
- Knows health and safety practice on construction workplaces
- Dependable, professional and committed, whether working solo or with a building crew
- Fit enough for the physical demands of bricklaying
- Can supply evidence of your qualifications and work history
- Overseas-qualified Bricklayers who have suitable experience are invited to apply, and suitable candidates can be sponsored once their qualifications and experience have been assessed
