Arborist

Climbing, pruning and removals at height, with ground work when the job calls for it. A well-established arboricultural business in Waikato wants an experienced Climbing Arborist for work across residential, commercial, council, utility and land-clearance projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Climb for tree maintenance and management work, pruning, trimming and removing trees with the right techniques
- Work at height while keeping to strict safety standards
- Take on ground crew duties when needed
- Run chainsaws, climbing gear, machinery and related tools safely
- Work on utility, commercial, residential, council and land-clearance jobs
- Assess each tree's condition and use the right work method, keeping work practices efficient and professional on every site
- Coordinate with other climbers and the ground crew, and communicate professionally with the team and clients
- Check and look after PPE and arboricultural tools, keep work areas tidy and follow site safety rules
- Join toolbox talks, health and safety meetings and refresher training, and do extra training to build technical and industry knowledge
- Stay reliable as outdoor conditions and project demands change
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum Level 3 NZQA Arboriculture qualification or comparable industry credentials; Level 3 Utility Arboriculture qualification is an advantage
- Minimum 2 years' practical climbing experience
- Demonstrated experience in both aerial and ground-based arboricultural work, with the ability to show genuine arboricultural skills and experience
- Class 1 Driver Licence, Restricted or higher; Class 2 Driver Licence is an advantage
- Able to do physically demanding outdoor work safely, and confident at heights and in varied weather
- Strong personal responsibility and a dependable work ethic
- A positive, cooperative attitude to teamwork

- Relevant overseas qualifications and experience may be assessed for suitability; applicants must be able to provide appropriate evidence of qualifications and employment experience
